Katy Perry will release a 6th single off her 'Teenage Dream' album and the chosen track is the mid-tempo number The One That Got Away, a song that Katy Perry is reportedly very fond of.
If this song will go to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Katy Perry will become the first artist in history to have 6 number one songs from the same album. (Katy has recently tied the record held by Michael Jackson for 5 number ones from the same album.).
Katy Perry's record label stresses that the new single release is not an attempt for a 6th number one and the main factors that weighted in favor of releasing the track were Perry's fondness for the song, the catchy hook and her track record of success at pop radio: “If it goes to No.1, that would be great,” said Greg Thompson, of EMI Music/Capitol Records EVP/marketing and promotion. “If not, we still have a Katy song on the radio in fourth quarter.”
The One That Got Away will go for airplay next month and it will get a radio edit version produced by Dr. Luke.
