Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley, Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska for 'W' Magazine November 2012 Anniversary Issue

Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley, Mia Wasikowska, and Rooney Mara share alternate covers for W Magazine's anniversary issue (November 2012), each of them channeling a different decade. More below.

The 1990s: Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett, on her favorite person from the 90s: “Chris Farley. I thought he was hilarious. Growing up, I used to watch Saturday Night Live just to see him. He threw his whole body into the parts he played: He’d become red and sweaty and frantic. When he died, it was really significant for me.”

The 2000s: Keira Knightley

Keira, on fashion trends of the 2000s that she dislikes: “I think skinny jeans and micro-miniskirts are very unfriendly. I’ve been known to wear both, but on some days it seems like they were invented to make you feel bad about yourself.”

The 1980s: Mia Wasikowska

Mia, on who she feels embodies the 1980s the most: "Madonna. She’s the icon. She’s wholly her own person.”

The 1970s: Rooney Mara

Rooney, on her favorite 1970s film:Paper Moon. I saw it only last year. David [Fincher] made me watch it, and I think I’ve seen it five times since then… I love that ending—it’s not too happy-happy.”
