Henry Cavill for GQ UK June 2013

Photographed by Kenneth Capello

On the mysterious auditions of "Twilight" and "Batman": "[For Twilight] I never got to see a script; they never called me. [For Batman] I'll have to ask Chris [Nolan] about that. I read that and thought, really? I must be really drunk. No, I never auditioned [for these two films]."

On learning from his "James Bond" rejection: "People say, 'You must be so depressed that you didn't get Bond.' Well no, because I got as far as the screen test for Bond. There's a lot of people out there who are far less fortunate than me, who didn't even get thought the door with their agent."

On taking things one step at a time: "I never thought of myself as unlucky. When you aim high, it's tough to get there unless something really fortunate happens."
