Escentual.Com Summer Sale 2014: My Picks and Recs Fragrance (Part Two)

Ahhh, fragrance! One of those little things that rock my world. Escentual.com is having the annual site-wide Summer Sale and the best thing about it? Whether you're looking to repurchase a longtime favourite scent or one that has just launched, they are all included in the sale. And nothing beats purchasing a newly released fragrance at discount prices!

Some of the new launches that are on my wishlist and they might turn out to be right up your alley too are: Givenchy Dahlia Divin, (with notes of mirabelle plum, jasmine, white flowers, sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli) packaged in a gorgeous bottle, surely Givenchy's best in years.

If you're a fan of  Jean Paul Gaultier's Classique fragrance, you might enjoy the new Intense version, while Gucci Premiere lovers will be happy to know there's now an Eau de Toilette version of the scent.

Thierry Mugler Angel Eau Sucree  is the new limited edition summer version of the classic Angel, while Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie (part of the Collection Extraordinaire exclusive line) promises to do exactly what it says on the box: cause you to do some Calfornia dreamin' with its classic sunny floral heart of jasmine and frangipani flowers, a bright mandarin & neroli opening and a beeswax and vanilla base.

Agent Provocateur Fatale is the new fragrance from Agent Provocateur and it is described as a sensual, gourmand concoction with notes of mango, gardenia, patchouli, chocolate, vanilla and musk.

Lovers of summer scents who want to add to their collection have two lovely new options. Nuxe Prodigieux Eau de Parfum with notes of orange blossom, bergamot, tangerine, rose, gardenia, magnolia, vanilla, coconut milk, was created to replicate the delicious smell of cult favourite Huile Prodigieuse dry oil but in an Eau de Parfum form. It is summery and beachy without being heavy or sunscreen-y. It reminds me of the beach and of that sun-kissed, sandy skin scent, with its notes of solar, creamy florals, a nutty vibe and a musky base.

Caudalie Parfum Divin Eau de Parfum is Caudalie's EDP version of their Divine Oil; it's very delicate and wears very close to skin, more like a body product as opposed to a perfume. Notes are: Moroccan rose, Bulgarian rose, pink peppercorn, grapefruit, vanilla, cedarwood, white musk.

For dark rose lovers, one of my recommendations is Marni's original Eau De Parfum, a warm, smokey, spicy rose that wears just like a cashmere sweater. It's soft-spoken and cozy, being more about incense and spices, with the rose note somewhere in the background.

Elie Saab is another favourite brand and if solar, luminous white florals are your thing, then look no further. Elie Saab Le Parfum (Eau de Parfum) is one of the best floral fragrances to come out in years and it has generated the entire trend of solar florals that we've been seeing recently. It has already achieved modern classic status in my opinion; everything else in that category of scents is constantly compared to it; it's the pillar of sunny, honeyed white florals.

DSquared2 Potion is an understated fragrance that wears like a combination of classic and modern. There's something slightly vintage about this one (due to the somewhat powdery rose/violet combination in the middle notes) while it still conforms to the rules of modern perfumery. It's very well blended, but you'll be able to smell honeyed roses, a blackberry note in the opening and a warm patchouli accord in the base notes. It was created by Christine Nagel, the same perfumer who did Armani Si and I can definitely see the similarities. Potion is softer and not as sweet as Si, at least not to my nose. It wears close to skin and it's the kind of scent that becomes a part of you.

Chloé's original Chloé Eau de Parfum can be purchased in a beautiful gift set including a 50 ml bottle and a 100 ml body lotion, but if you prefer a ligher, very fresh rose scent, I recommend Roses de Chloe.

Since I have mentioned Van Cleef & Arpels Collection Extraordinaire in the beginning of this post, I recommend checking out their previous offers in the line, most of which are well-blended, creamy and natural-smelling : Orchidee Vanille is one of the smoothest, loveliest grown-up vanilla scents out there, with just the right amount of sweetness.

Gardenia Petale is your classic white floral scent, with gardenia as the main player. It's creamy and light and more on the green side of gardenia. Iris fans might want to have a look at Bois D'Iris, a soft, powdery iris blend that wears warmer and silkier than other iris scents, but somehow manages to keep that iris-specific touch of coolness alive.

Rose Velours is a soft, comforting rose/honey scent and Cologne Noire is your spicy, fresh, citrusy/woody cologne-type of fragrance. Clean, light and office-friendly.

Dolce & Gabbana's Desire The One is probably my favourite scent from D&G's The One range. I find it more sophisticated than the original The One and it is suitable for autumn/winter due to its sweet, gourmand notes of caramel, a modern-day tuberose heart and a delicious lychee/litchi note in the opening. And then, of course, there's the heavy black bottle (pictured below).

Make sure to check back at Escentual.com for new product additions during the sale (yes, they are THAT good!). You will also find full reviews of some of the scents mentioned here, as well as of many of the products in my skincare/makeup picks on the Escentual blog.

I am not affiliated with Escentual or any of the brands mentioned in these posts, nor am I paid to write all of this. I am just a very happy customer who loves shopping at Escentual and loves writing about favourite beauty products.
